Jeff Elgin
A northern Virginia native, Jeff Elgin has called Richmond home since 1995 and loves the city, the parks, the river and the people. He tried a number of things to tay in shape after college - a couple of seasons of rugby, marathon training for the Marine Corps Marathon, the gym - but none of it stuck. He joined Class 91 after quitting the gym out of boredom. Jeff loves to be in the mountains or in the water. He has been an avid scuba diver for over 30 years, logging over five hundred dives in seas around the world. He spends much of his free time in the mountains, hiking and mountaineering with fellow STPT members (including climbs on Rainier, Whitney and the Tetons), he has also enjoyed skiing and snowboarding for many years. Both of his sons are also certified scuba divers and snowboarders who share his passion for the ocean and mountains. Instructor Elgin loves everything about STPT, especially the teamwork and support for everyone. He loves to see the improvements in every team member regardless of their goals. While he loves some tricep pushups, his all time favorite is bear crawls: he was the first to bear crawl the length of the U.Va Lawn. Those who join him on run options also know how much he loves to run hills. His older son graduated Class 269 and is an active member who gives his dad a run for his money.
