Tracy McGuire
I joined STPT Class 125 in 2003 to get in shape and be part of the team, and 5 1/2 years later I earned my Instructor title. I have competed in triathlons, and placed 2nd in my age 2006/2008 Sprint xterra run/bike/swim. I have run marathons, ½ marathons, 10 milers, and many other adventure races. The 2006 Muddy Buddy, my husband and I placed 1st out of 80 Coed teams. I never would have experienced these adventures without SEAL Team. When I started STPT I didn't own a mountain bike, ran one running race, did 0 pull-ups (record pull-ups 16), 22 sit-ups (record 140 in 2 minutes), and was a slow runner with 0 endurance. I got my motorcycle license, learned to snowboard, and several Instructors taught me how to ride a mountain bike. Growing up in Fredericksburg, Va. I was on team sports year round in high school. I was Captain of the Cheerleading Team and the Gymnastic Team, played Soccer, and was my Softball team's shortstop while coaching children's gymnastics in the summers. I graduated from Virginia Tech and began an art career in Film, Television, and Commercial Production and eventually moved to Los Angeles. I loved working in these fast paced creative environments (Cabo San Lucas Mexico, Montana, NYC, Athens & Atlanta Georgia, Tennessee, Birmingham Alabama, etc.) shooting scenes unlike the day before. STPT is similar in that every day is a team sport, different environment, fast paced, and exciting.
I paint in order to stay home with my kids, all 5 of them. On the website www.myjunkyardart.com is some of my art: junkliers (chandeliers made of junk), clay, handmade magnets, and greeting cards. My favorite Instructor McGuire quote is "If you do what you always do, you'll get what you always got."
